Liposomal Bupivacaine in Erector Spinae Plane Block and Interscalene Block for Scapular and Proximal Humerus Resections

چکیده
Erector spinae plane block (ESPB) is a novel fascial that was first described in 2016. It considered an alternative for brachial plexus blocks shoulder surgeries as the erector muscle extends to cervical level. Herein, we present successful multilevel ESPB plus interscalene using liposomal bupivacaine 45-year-old female patient with metastatic sarcoma who presented scapula and proximal humerus resection. The post-operative course smooth, discharged home on day 2 minimal narcotic requirements.

Erector spinae plane (ESP) block in the management of post thoracotomy pain syndrome: A case series.
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Post thoracotomy pain syndrome (PTPS) remains a common complication of thoracic surgery with significant impact on patients' quality of life. Management usually involves a multidisciplinary approach that includes oral and topical analgesics, performing appropriate interventional techniques, and coordinating additional care such as physiotherapy, psychotherapy and rehabilitat...
متن کاملComparison of liposomal bupivacaine infiltration versus interscalene nerve block for pain control in total shoulder arthroplasty
BACKGROUND This meta-analysis aimed to compare the efficiency and safety of liposomal bupivacaine infiltration and interscalene nerve block for pain control after total shoulder arthroplasty. METHODS A systematic search was performed in Medline (1966 to May 2017), PubMed (1966 to May 2017), Embase (1980 to May 2017), ScienceDirect (1985 to May 2017) and the Cochrane Library. Only randomized c...
متن کاملThe Erector Spinae Plane Block: A Novel Analgesic Technique in Thoracic Neuropathic Pain.
Thoracic neuropathic pain is a debilitating condition that is often poorly responsive to oral and topical pharmacotherapy. The benefit of interventional nerve block procedures is unclear due to a paucity of evidence and the invasiveness of the described techniques. In this report, we describe a novel interfascial plane block, the erector spinae plane (ESP) block, and its successful application ...
متن کاملLiposomal bupivacaine versus interscalene nerve block for pain control after shoulder arthroplasty: a prospective randomized trial.
HYPOTHESIS Our hypothesis was that in patients undergoing shoulder arthroplasty, a prospective randomized trial would find no significant differences in average daily pain scores of those treated with interscalene nerve block (INB) vs. local liposomal bupivacaine (LB). METHODS Sixty patients undergoing primary shoulder arthroplasty were assessed for eligibility. Study arms included either int...
متن کاملLiposomal bupivacaine versus interscalene nerve block for pain control after shoulder arthroplasty
BACKGROUND Postoperative pain control after total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) can be challenging. Liposomal bupivacaine and interscalene nerve block are 2 common pain control protocol for TSA patients. However, whether liposomal bupivacaine was superior than interscalene nerve block was unknown. This meta-analysis aimed to illustrate the efficacy liposomal bupivacaine versus interscalene nerve ...
